Weight Loss and Diabetes

In May of 2009, I joined Weight Watchers and lost 69 pounds. Five months ago, I became a lifetime member of WW and have maintained it. I have stayed with in 2 lbs of my goal weight and haven't had to pay for the meetings for that time. However, I am on a quest for diabetic ally sound and great tasting food that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I have several WW cook books and have cooked a dozen recipes that are great, but the ingredients cost an arm and a leg.

My parents are my guinea pigs and they have liked the recipes that I have cooked for them. I live on $200.00 a week and spending 2/3 rds of it on food just instant cost effective. I have several diabetic cookbooks and have found only about half a dozen recipes that looked like they had possibilities but only a few of them tasted descent.

I have just ordered several diabetic cookbooks and some vegetarian cookbooks because I have decided that I can used flavored tvp in place of meat and treat myself to meat, fish, or sea food once or twice a week. The problem I have with a lot of the recipes that I would like to try in any of the cookbooks that I have is that the main ingredient and spices cost an arm and a leg. This annoys me because I am a great cook on a limited budget. I havne't given up my quest for great food that I can afford to fix.
